Sun, ponies, outdoor adventures and a giant water slide….the definition of an awesome week of summer camp in our opinion!
Campers ride daily with a mix of ring lessons that focus on the fundamentals of horse and rider and fun lessons which encourage relaxed enjoyment of their equine friends. Fun lessons include trail rides, playing games on horseback, and even taking some of our water-loving horses to the river! No horse-crazy kid’s day would be complete without rolling up their sleeves and getting a little dirty! Ample time for grooming, tacking, untacking and barn chores are included in the day.
Camp Claddagh Horsemanship Clinic
June 19th-June 21st
9am-4pm
All participants have mounted and unmounted lessons daily, and are responsible for the complete care of their horse or pony, with the guidance of our experienced staff.
Mounted Instruction focuses on the fundamentals of riding, with an emphasis on control, balance, and safety. Riders will have lessons in groups of riders at the appropriate level. Riders will practice equitation, hunters, dressage, trail and cross-country, gymnastics and more.
Unmounted Horsemanship Instruction focuses on educating the campers with interesting and exciting demos, lectures and hands-on opportunities. The experience of being totally responsible for their horse during camp is a great opportunity to learn proper and safe horse care and the commitment of horse ownership.
Clinic topics will include:
- Daily Lesson
- Proper Lunging Techniques
- Horse care knowledge, including but not limited to:
- Nutrition (Grain, Supplements, etc…)
- General Health Care (Temperature, heart rate, etc…)
- Q & A with our farm Veterinarian
- Emergency Horse Evaluation (Lameness, Breathing, Wounds, etc…)
- Hoof Care (trims, shoeing, etc…)
- Q & A with our farm Farrier
- Horse show preparation
- Clipping
- Mane Pulling
- Trailer Setup
- Horse Show setup (rings, courses, etc…)
- Mock Horse Show
- Q & A session with Hunter/Jumper Judge to evaluate your riding in a show format
Riding for All Levels
Camp Claddagh is a full-day Hunter/Jumper style program for kids who LOVE horses. All levels are welcome, from children who have never been on a horse to those that have been riding their entire lives.
Cooling Off is Fun
Our afternoons are spent cooling off on our giant water slide, splashing in the splash pools and playing in the sprinklers!
Be Creative
Creativity is encouraged during summer afternoons. Campers decorate real horseshoes to keep, create horse collages, and many other fun projects like scratch art, friendship bracelets, personalized visors, craft weaving and more.
Claddagh Manor’s summer camp is like a fairy tale dream for young children. This is our daughter’s third summer and our son’s first summer. The entire Claddagh family shares their passion, love and knowledge of horses with an amazing ability to transfer this passion and love to the children. It is a magical place! The barn and grounds are pristine. The atmosphere is exciting with something new to look forward to each day. The children are active all day long. Miss Pat and Miss Denise treat each child as their own and are extremely positive and loving individuals. I love everything about this camp for my children.
Great day camps for kids in summer…my daughter LOVED IT. They take EXCELLENT care of their horses and the location is GORGEOUS!!!
